Cornerstone Inn

The Cornerstone Inn is a restored 1870s bank building that was built by Charles Anthony and Henry Denhart in 1874. Initially a dry goods store and a meeting spot for Abraham Lincoln and other politicians, the location was later transformed into a bank when customers began requesting to have their savings stored in the safe. In 2004, Tom and Judy Gross began the painstaking process of restoring the structure to its original 19th-century Italianate glory. The former bank has been transformed into a fine inn, restaurant, bakery, and pub overlooking historic Washington Square.

Originally built in 1902 and 1903 as a wedding present by railroad baron and riverboat magnate Z. B. Job for his son, Z. B. Job, Jr., and Mary Drummond, heiress to the Drummond tobacco fortune, Beall Mansion got its name when Mary sold the mansion to Edmond Beall for $20,000 in 1909. Jim & Sandy Belote purchased the property in 1996 and opened the inn to the public in 1998.
