Artspace 304 in Carbondale is a dynamic and innovative creative hub that supports local artists and fosters artistic expression. It was founded in 1987 as Carbondale Community Arts and has since nurtured generations of artists and creators. The gallery is housed in a mid-century modern building that was formerly the library for the city of Carbondale. It functions as a dedicated space for art exhibits, media lectures, and other events. With its mission to provide a platform for emerging and established artists, Artspace 304 endeavors to promote access to educational resources for the people of Southern Illinois, and to provide funding for the purpose of developing artistic culture in Carbondale and the surrounding communities.


SAA Collective

The SAA Collective is a commercial sales gallery and a professional hub for artists based in Springfield and Central Illinois. With a strong emphasis on community engagement and fostering artistic dialogue, SAA Collective serves as a vital platform for artists to connect with their audience. It was founded in 1979 as the Women’s Art Alliance, a support group for local women artists and later changed its name to the Prairie Art Alliance, then merged with the Springfield Art Association in 2016. The SAA Collective also organizes events and programs to promote and support the visual arts, such as the 6x6 Art Raffle, the Window Mural Project, and art education opportunities for the greater Springfield area. The gallery is located in the historic Broadwell Pharmacy Building, which adds to its charm and character.
